History: The Corinth Cemetery was established in 1853 by Jacob Tipley Goodbread in his yard where his son, Hugh Brown Goodbread, was buried January 13, 1853. According to church records an exact statement, “Corinth Church was built by its members and friends in the year 1881 and dedicated by Rev. W. O. Hampton the 25th day of December of the year 1881. The church and ground attached has been deeded to Southern Methodist by R. H. Parrish, J. D. Parrish and J. T. Goodbread, Trustees”. The State Methodist Archives shows Corinth Church founded in 1882; however, considering the date of dedication it would have not been recorded until 1882. Corinth Church is no longer an active church. It was given to the Corinth Cemetery Association, Inc. in 1997. In 1974 The Corinth Cemetery Association, Inc. was formed and chartered with the Secretary of State. Juanita Havird and Milton Wheeler were instrumental in the initiation of this project. The Association is for family members of anyone who has relatives buried in Corinth Cemetery. The supervision of the cemetery is maintained by The Corinth Cemetery Association. Donations by family members, fish fry, chicken pilaf, and other fund raising projects keep perpetual funds available for maintenance of the cemetery. The Association has By d. Laws with Directors, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian elected for a two year period. The annual meetings are held the third Monday in January for election of officers with special meetings whenever necessary for transaction of business. There is no membership fee. The last plot of land was given by Frank N. and Elizabeth Thomas. This was fenced and will be known as the Frank Thomas Addition to be used after all other space has been filled. It will be platted at a later date as funds become available. Block numbers and lot initials have been added so that graves will be easier to locate. Cemetery listings of all graves and spaces allocated to members are on record with the Corinth Cemetery Association Historian.
