NEW HOME BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY, Lakeland, Polk County, Florida

This is a fenced, privately owned church maintained cemetery for members only since 1950. Originated in 1944, plots were sold to the public at $4 per space, with a section designated for infants and indigents, however, during this survey, this particular location could not be determined. Because it was a hand-drawn survey of the 1970s, burials have been "eye-balled," thus, creating an uneven alignment of rows. Construction of I-4 took portion 2-east of I-4 leaving an irregular shape for this cemetery. The church was helpful in providing a personal directory listing of the older graves that may have been lost over the years.

DIRECTIONS: 901 N. Galloway Road, Lakeland. From Tampa, take the Memorial Street Exit, turn left at first street. Turn left onto Swindell Road across overpass to Galloway Road. Take a left on Galloway Road and cemetery is located on left before another I-4 overpass.
